Details to Participate in the Webcast

System requirements

To participate in the webcast, you need the following:

  • access to the internet (high speed is best but dial-up can work)
  • speakers in or attached to your computer that will enable you to hear the presenters (laptops users may want to use external speakers or headphones).
  • internet browser that may include
    • Windows XP or Vista with Internet Explorer 6.0 (or higher) or Firefox 3.0
    • Mac OS 10.5 (or higher) with Firefox 3.0

NOTE: Please do not use the Google Chrome browser to connect to this session as it is not fully supported by the webcast system.

We encourage you to test your system before the webcast. If you work on a network/server you may need to contact your IT administrator.

Even though you have pre-registered for this event, you will need to complete a short log-in form to access the webcast ‘lobby’ page. Once you have logged into the webcast, you will only need your email address to re-enter.

You may click on the webcast link now or at any time before or after the meeting, in  order to register with the webcast host and to gain access to the slide console. Click on the “webcast link” below and follow the log-in steps.

If, for any reason the webcast link above does not work, copy the entire link, paste it into the address bar of your web browser and click <GO>.

Launching the Webcast Slides

The webcast console will go live 15 minutes before the meeting starts.  If you haven’t already tested your system, you can do so at that time.  To view the presentation, you will need to choose a “player” (either Windows Media, Silverlight or Real Player).

The webcast host invites you to launch the slides (rather than requiring you to download them to your computer. They will advance automatically after the webcast begins. Although you will be unable to advance them during the presentation, you may return to review the entire webcast later or print the slides from our website after the webcast.

Participating in the Webcast

As you listen to the webcast, we encourage you to submit questions or comments at any time (including during the presentation or question periods). Type your questions or comments directly into the interactive box to the left of the slides on the console and include your name and affiliation. Your comments will be received by the webcast technical team; they will not be visible to other webcast participants or visible on main screen.

Your questions and comments will receive a response or acknowledgement either by:

  • email during the webcast or at a later time, or
  • directly, as a pop-up on your console screen, or
  • a speaker during the question session (similar comments and questions will be grouped together to streamline responses).

Exiting the Webcast

If you would like to exit the presentation, you may do so at anytime (simply by closing your browser window or visiting another URL). You may also re-enter at any time, including during or after breaks by clicking on the URL address again.

Technical Issues?

If you do have difficulties, check first with your IT department. If your IT staff is unable to resolve the problem, please use the “HELP” button on your webcast console, contact webcast@newswire.ca or customerservice@stewardshipontario.ca

If you have any concerns about accessing the webcast, please email: webcast@newswire.ca. If the slide console fails to open, it could be because your firewall and/or "pop-up" blocker is activated. Try disabling these systems and keep them disabled during the webcast.

Once the meeting is in progress, if you find that something is not working for you, you may also click on the “help” button to the left of the console to request assistance. Stewardship Ontario or a representative of CNW (the host company for the webcast) will respond promptly.
