Some materials are residential sales only, while others include industrial/commercial/institutional (IC&I) sectors.
The MHSW program identifies three different sectors that a material can be sold into – residential, small quantity IC&I (also referred to as designated IC&I or a small quantity generator) and large quantity IC&I. Small quantity IC&Is are business that are not required to submit a generator registration report (under the Environmental Protection Act) because they do not return more than 100 Kg of MHSW per month.
Large quantity IC&I are required to register and are regulated under the EPA Regulation 347.
The sectors that a steward reports their sales into (residential, small IC&I or all IC&I) will change depending on the designated material. In order to determine what material a sector needs to be supplied into to be obligated, please refer to the Rules (Appendix A under the column “Sector(s) into which MHSM is supplied”).
