Reporting and Payment deadlines for all obligation years are 93 days from each steward’s date of notification for each year. Once your report is submitted, an email is automatically issued from the ‘We Recycle’ online reporting system. Please review the invoice to ensure it is correct. The following payment schedule for the 2010 program year has been approved by Stewardship Ontario’s Board of Directors:

  • April 30, 2010 - Payments due from stewards for the three month period from January to March, 2010 (25% of 2010 annual fees)
  • June 30, 2010 - Payments due from stewards for the three month period from April to June, 2010 (25% of 2010 annual fees)
  • September 30, 2010 - Payments due from stewards for the three month period from July to September, 2010 (25% of 2010 annual fees)
  • December 1, 2010 - Payments due from stewards for the three month period from October to December, 2010 (25% of 2010 annual fees)

If a steward is notified on or before December 28, 2009, then the payment deadlines are as follows:

After first payment is made, the regular schedule of payments shall apply. Stewards will base their 2010 obligation on 2009 data for Designated Blue Box Waste. The de minis exemptions are also based on the 2009 calendar year.

GST Ruling - August 9, 2006

Stewardship Ontario has obtained a ruling from Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) with respect to GST charged on steward fees. On August 9, 2006, CRA ruled that the fees paid by stewards to Stewardship Ontario pursuant to the Waste Diversion Act are not considered to be a supply and therefore, are not subject to GST. No GST will be charged to stewards on future fees, commencing with 3rd quarter 2006 invoices to be issued September 1, 2006. This change applies on a go-forward basis and does not affect transactions prior to this date.
